"The complex and rich nose reveals itself on candied and citrus fruits aromas. Also, floral fragrances and a hint of citrus with spices notes can be perceived. The mouth is smooth, fresh and round with a lovely finish on citrus fruits aromas, typical of the Vermentino grape variety. A great wine to drink now or to age for 5 - 7 years in the cellar." The grapes are selected from the best north hillsides of the domaine and after harvest, they are sorted in the vineyards and in the cha.The fermentation and the ageing are done in oak barrels during 8 to 10 months, depending on the vintage. No fining or filtering before bottling.

The Domaine
Situated not far from Aix-en-Provence, Château La Coste is a 125 hectares domaine with a very old tradition of winemaking. Actually, the domaine is sprinkled with remnants of winemaking by the Romans (fragments of amphoras in the vineyards, several paved paths and even an ancient irrigation system). Surrounded with olive trees, almond orchards and forests of oak-trees, the vineyards are conducted according to biodynamic principles, allowing to preserve the terroir and the soils fertility (certified organic in 2009).
Purchased in 2002 by Paddy McKillen, owner of several London's top hotels, Château La Coste hired Matthieu Cosse (from the domaine Cosse Maisonneuve) as winemaker in 2006. Matthieu, who brought his great skills and dynamism, gave a complete rebirth to the wines of the domaine. The wines are perfectly balanced with working methods that fully respect the land and the surrounding ecosystems.
Matthieu's work has been possible with the implementation in 2008 of a new infrastructure: a brand new chai designed by the famous French architect Jean Nouvel, embracing the most up-to-date oenological technology. A choice that was made easy thanks to the various partnerships put in place since 2004 with numerous architects in order to associate architecture, art and land together. Château La Coste is definitely a magical place with incredible wines...

"It's all about the terroir," says Matthieu Cosse "Mr McKillen's first thought was to improve the quality, which touched all areas of the business from vineyards to the new cellar, and onto the artistic centre.
