The Toffee Shop Fudge is famous and the fudge aficionados know it! This scrumptious fudge is made by hand in Cumbria in England to a traditional recipe, which means that the mixture is boiled in copper pans in the old-fashioned way. The resulting fudge presented in tablet form is deliciously creamy, with that essential grainy and crumbly texture that melts in the mouth. Outstanding! According to wine writer Jancis Robinson, this is "The best fudge in England".
The Toffee Shop in Penrith, Cumbria on the edge of the Lake District, has been making fudge and toffee since 1910. The shop was originally opened by the Furnass family just after the First World War and has worked through three families, eventually being owned by Neil and Pat Boustead. The same recipe has been used for over 100 years and has never been changed. If you ever visit the Toffee House, you won't miss the rich sweet aroma of melting butter and boiling sugar from its kitchen!
