Pre-Christmas rush, but tough times ahead.
NO sooner had Michael Noonan broken the news that €1 in excise duty was to be added to the cost of a bottle of wine, than our wine shop started filling with customers.
Certainly there were rumours that excise duty was going up. We didn't think it was going to be that high and we're shocked.
We were very busy throughout the afternoon and we've been getting calls by people ordering and paying for wine.
But while yesterday may have been busy as people stocked up for Christmas there's no doubt that the excise duty hike will hurt businesses like ours.

The Irish Food Guide – 10th Edition – 2012
John & Sally McKenna
Terroirs heads towards two decades of service Dubliners and wine lovers, and their great achievement in all that time has been to stay always relevant, always surprising, always enterprising. Françoise and Seán created a timeless aesthetic in their store when they opened, and age has only improved it. Their combined knowledge means they are able to keep finding good bottles, most especially from their beloved France, and their treasure trove of good things to eat is always intriguing and special.

BEST FINE WINE MERCHANT OF THE YEAR 2011 - Tomas Clancy
In Dublin, last year’s number 3, TERROIRS, has leapfrogged to the top in what is a wafer thin contest between the entire top 10 candidates.
Terroirs, 18 years in business this year, has shown once again that total commitment to perfection in wine selection, adventure and thoroughness in accessories, and adventure and optimism in creating a wine lover’s eco-system through every product in their jewel box of a shop.
