Click here to view label Craiglee Vineyard is located near Sunbury which is about 40km northwest of Melbourne on the edge of the urban sprawl. It is owned and operated by the Carmody family. Pat Carmody farms sheep and cattle as well as grapes on his property which was a successful 19th century vineyard site. He is about as far removed from the typical new world winemaker as you could imagine, and has a healthy contempt for a fair number of his competitors in the industry. Pat planted vines on the site of the original vineyard in 1976 and processed the first wine in 1979. The first commercial quantity was released in 1982 with the 1980 shiraz. Pat continues to make wine from the fruit grown at Craiglee, and is assisted by his wife Dianne and sons David and Tom. All Craiglee wines are made from estate grown fruit, hand picked from vines that are hand pruned and carefully tended here on our family farm.Craiglee has an enviable reputation as a producer of fine table wines made to reflect local conditions and show vintage variation. Varieties produced include Shiraz, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc.

Click here to view label Mount Mary Vineyard is a family owned, single vineyard estate located in the heart of the Yarra Valley which lies in the south-eastern corner of Australia. Established in 1971 by Dr. John and Marli Middleton, Mount Mary was one of the first vineyards planted in the resurgence of the Yarra Valley as a premium grape growing region. The inspiration for planting vines in this area came from the local history of the Yarra Valley and in particular from the wines being made by the Swiss settlers in the 1850’s. These Swiss immigrants had been greatly influenced by the French wine producers and they recognised the climatic parallels the Yarra Valley shared with both Bordeaux and Burgundy. After extensive visits to the wine growing areas of the world in the late 1960’s and in particular those of Bordeaux and Burgundy, John and Marli had become totally fascinated by French premium wine. They then decided to start looking for a suitable place to establish a commercial vineyard planted entirely with French grape varieties. And so it was in 1971 that John and Marli stumbled upon the property known as “Mount Mary”. The site had, surprisingly, never been planted with vines yet they immediately recognised the gentle north facing slope and soil as being ideal for their purpose. The first vines were planted in 1972 and today we have some 30 acres under vine, all of varying age and varieties. From the 10 grape varieties planted in the vineyard, we produce four wines, two whites and two reds. The first of our whites is a Bordeaux blend of Sauvignon blanc/Semillon and Muscadelle we named “Triolet”. The other is the well known “Chardonnay” of Burgundy. Similarly, in our reds we produce a Bordeaux Cabernet blend (Sauvignon/Franc/Merlot/Malbec/Petit verdot) which we call “Quintet” and the burgundian “Pinot noir”. Since Mount Mary was established in 1971, we have gained a dedicated clientele of mailing list and restaurant customers who enjoy our wines and our success to date has been due to the old adage “Quality – Not Quantity”. We place top priority on expertise, knowledge, quality of equipment, sense of purpose, attention to detail and consistency.

Penfolds Grange (until the 1989 vintage labelled Penfolds Grange Hermitage) is an Australian wine, made predominantly from the Shiraz (Syrah) grape and usually a small percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon. It is widely considered Australia's "first growth" and its most collectable wine.[1] The term "Hermitage", the name of a French wine appellation, was commonly used in Australia as another synonym for Shiraz or Syrah. In 1953 two versions of Grange were made, one 87% Shiraz and 13% Cabernet Sauvignon, the other 10% Cabernet Sauvignon.

In the words of Jeremy Oliver, one of Australia’s most highly respected wine writers: “Pierro is one of the few Australian wineries that could claim to have established a trend that many others have followed. Since the mid-1980s Mike Peterkin has crafted a Chardonnay of not only monumental power, but of simultaneously smooth and silky delivery. “Pierro Chardonnay is the role model for so many of Australia’s more opulent and hedonistically proportioned chardonnays and is a stunning expression of Margaret River Chardonnay.”
