Emeric, François’son, is now in charge of the vineyard. Attractively located in the commune of Néac on a clay and gravel spur of iron-rich terrain, the eighteen and a half hectares of the Château Tournefeuille produce wines from vineyards of 60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Château Tournefeuille is classified as Lalande de Pomerol and is situated on the limit of Pomerol and only a few hundred metres away from Pomerol's Olympians and the legendary Château Pétrus itself. It is the river Barbane that separates the two estates. The vineyard practices are very traditional, including ploughing and manual harvesting. Château Tournefeuille is very impressively elegant. Spicy bouquet with some complex ripe black fruit and truffle. Fine palate, firm and well-integrated tannins with lots of black fruits. Magnificent finish, where flavours last and last. Ultra-stylish. World class wine. “La Cure” is a wine made with ultra mature grapes harvested right beside the church of the village of Néac. It is like a great Pomerol and offers silky fruit and a suede-like finish. It was aged 18 months in barrels.

Château Tournefeuille, Lalande de Pomerol - 2005

From the outstanding 2005 vintage it is made from a blend of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and aged over 18 months in oak barrels. Le Clementin du Chateau Pape Clement - 2004
Lots of flashy oak in this young wine, with aromas of spiced fruits and honey signifying this. It is soft, supple and well rounded, with a firm midpalate and lots of ripe grip. It has a very plump, diffuse character but there is acidity in it, and woody tannins. There is substance to it though and I suspect it will come good with time.
