The Sadie Family strives for wines that are fresh, flavoursome, refined, harmonious and balanced and aims to offer drinking pleasure at the highest level of quality, at any stage of a wine's life: the wine-drinker's eagerness for a further glass is their measure of achievement!
The Sadie's two wines, Columella and Palladius, originate in the soils in the Swartland region, which stretches north of Cape Town between Durbanville and Piketberg, inland from the Atlantic Ocean, and centered on the town of Malmesbury. Importantly, the area has a remarkably stable climate, allowing a consistent level of quality each year, in subtly different vintage conditions.
Sadie Family Sequillo, Red - 2005
Syrah (60%) make out the biggest percentage of the blend. In this vintage the Syrah displays the very ripe and spicy flavours it is known for as well as some minerality but more of the black graphite spectrum.
The Mourvedre at 30% is again responsible for introducing more of the fresh fruit and berry and red cherry aromas. The tannin structure of the Mourvedre in this vintage is again very tightly knitted.
The Grenache at 10% make out a tiny percentage of the final wine but it has a huge effect on the final blend.
Sadie Family Sequillo, White - 2007
Notably deep gold in colour. Tangy nose with honeysuckle and tangerine skin flavours. Not heavy on the palate despite the alcohol, and full of interest already. Surprisingly open, very suave. Very neat, confident finish with marked acidity.a blend of 60% Chenin Blanc, 20% Grenache Blanc, 10% Viognier and 10% Roussanne. 88 points Wine Spectator
Sadie Family Palladius, White - 2007
The qualities of the 2007 vintage we embrace are those of restraint aromatic profile and some very fine spicy aromas. The palate is more restrained as well with impressive notes of minerality and some very well structured tannin and a acidity that finishes the wine off in a very long aftertaste.
A blend of 45 % Chenin Blanc, 20% Grenache Blanc, 15% Clairette Blanc 10% Viognier and 10% Chardonnay and the wine spend 12 months in French oak Vats 500 / 600 litre.

Sadie Family Columella, Red - 2006
Now made from seven vineyards this is a blend of Syrah and Mourvedre from a range of soil types. The intense, dark, smooth spicy nose has sweet, seamless pure fruit and lovely balance and complexity. The palate is dark and quite tannic with spicy red and black fruits and a rich, chocolatey character. It’s very well structured with lovely purity and integrated oak. A stunning wine. Excellent 96/100.

On the 3rd July 1693, the Governor of the Cape, Simon van der Stel, granted the land to Henning Husing, who named the farm Meerlust, describing the sense of pleasure he obtained from the sea breezes that blew inland from False Bay.
Johannes Albertus Myburgh bought Meerlust in January 1757.
His ownership marked the foundation of the Myburgh Dynasty.
The work depicted, by Johann Frederici, gives a lively
impression of life on the farm at the end of the 18th Century.

Very youthful, vivid and with a brilliant bright platinum colour and pronounced green hue. On the palate the wine is full bodied & generous, but still balanced by crispy acidity. There is ripe tropical fruit & creaminess balanced by a pure minerality typical of the variety. The wine has a long, very pleasant lingering finish indicating the richness and persistence of the vintage.

The dark rich ruby colour of the wine is typical of this variety and the complex nose full of black cherries, mulberries and spice draws you in. These flavours carry through on to the palate which finishes with a luxuriously soft and subtle feel to it. 40% first fill, 18 months in french oak.

The wine has a lovely greenish-yellow colour. On the nose the flavours are a combination of honey blossoms, dried apricots, peaches, and lime with a good wood integration. The palate is full-bodied and complex with a good balance of acidity. The flavours on the nose follow very well through on the palate.
