  1. Domaine Auguste Clape - Cotes du Rhone

  2. Domaine Auguste Clape - Cornas "Renaissance"

"Packed with blackberry and raspberry fruit, this is a bit of a brute now, with a brick wall of tannins hiding the espresso, mocha, mineral and tar flavours. Shows terrific intensity and drive through the finish, as the fruit gains more and more depth thanks to mouthwatering acidity. This will age for a generation. Best from 2008 through 2030." 97 points Wine Spectator

  3. Château d’Ampuis Côte-Rôtie

"Medium ruby. Spicy aromas of blackcurrant, tobacco, gunmetal, tar and game. Rich, silky and sweet, but a bit subdued following the bottling and not currently showing its complexity. Finishes quite long, with very round, fine tannins. This was made from riper fruit than the '95, noted Philippe Guigal, even if the '95 was a more massive wine." 91 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar

  4. Château d’Ampuis Côte-Rôtie

"Sadly, there are only 23,000 bottles (all aged in small oak) of the outstanding 1996 Côte-Rôtie Chateau d'Ampuis, which was bottled in October, 1999. Its dark ruby/purple colour is followed by an intense nose of tapenade, dried herbs, licorice, leather, and black currants. The wine is nicely-textured, soft, with less acidity than most 1996 Côte-Rôties, and a layered, supple finish. Drink it over the next 10-12 years. Robert Parker 90 points Wine Advocate.

  5. Château d’Ampuis Côte-Rôtie

Super ripe aromas of pepper, chocolate and menthol. Wonderfully deep flavours of cherries and spice. A very fresh, elegant wine with compelling sweetness but also excellent backbone. Really coats the palate on the very long aftertaste, finishing with strong spiciness and great lift.

  6. La Mouline Côte Rôtie

"Inky purple. Highly pungent aromas of cherry, blackcurrant, violet and cracked pepper. Sappy and sweet on entry, then firmed by dusty tannins, which frame the vivid dark fruit and violet pastille flavours. A spicy quality dominates the long, focused, energetic finish. 93-96 Points"

  7. Château d’Ampuis Côte-Rôtie

"The 1995 Côte-Rôtie Château Ampuis is a sensational offering. The bottled wine is even better than its individual component parts. It boasts a dense, saturated deep ruby colour, as well as a flamboyant, intense bouquet of crushed pepper, Provencal herbs, black raspberry jam, and smoky sweet oak. The wine is medium to full-bodied, with good underlying acidity, but much more voluptuous and unctuous than it appeared to be from cask. Long, concentrated, and explosively rich, this wine may merit an even higher score after it has had some time to mesh together in bottle. It is a terrific Côte-Rôtie to drink over the next 10-15+ years." Score: 92 points Robert Parker, Wine Advocate

  8. La Mouline Côte Rôtie

Incredibly dark, black purple colour. Deep aromatics of black fruit, smoke, bacon and iron wake you up and say hello. The palate is consumed by layers of amazingly ripe, black and red fruits. This is as big as it is plush. If you're looking in the dictionary for a wine to define seamless, this is it! Absolutely flawless.

  9. La Turque Côte Rôtie

"The exquisite 2006 Côte Rôtie La Turque is class. It exhibits exceptional aromas of bacon fat, smoked duck, soy, black currants, blackberries, and graphite. Full-bodied and dense with good acidity, outrageous concentration, and a finish that lasts over 60 seconds, this is amazing stuff! 97 Points

  10. Guigal "La Turque" Côte Rôtie

"Very distinctive, with ganache and espresso aromas and well-structured layers of blackberry, mulled plum, roasted spice, anise and charred apple wood. This has ample grip, but stays polished and integrated, allowing for an almost caressing mouthfeel despite its obvious density. One of the most concentrated wines in the vintage. Best from 2012 through 2025." 96 Points Wine Spectator
