    Almost opaque with a purple hue, this is classic syrah from the Northern Rhone. Rich and spicy on the nose with an underlying savoury quality, the palate is rich and spicy too, with ripe approachable tannins. The finish is long, smooth and velvety.

  2. Domaine Vincent Pinard Sancerre "Les Florès"

    From a limestone based vineyard in the Bué area of Sancerre, this is very expressive and aromatic and head and shoulders above other Sauvignons at this price. A white flower and citrus oil nose is followed by a fantastically clear palate of lime pith, rock salt, nectarine and apple blossom. Juicy, silky and very moreish.

  3. Domaine Robert-Denogent

    Saint Véran is an appellation in the Mâconnais region next to that of Pouilly-Fuissé. The grape of choice is of course Chardonnay and Robert Denogent's wines are among the best we have ever tasted from the Mâconnais. This Saint Véran is powerful, with a a complex nose reminiscent of Bourgognes Blanc from further north. Denogent's wines are fermented using indigenous yeasts and are aged in oak for up to 18 month which is unusual in this part of the appellation. Very rich and complex, a bit flinty and with bright acidity.

    Undeniably, the sun-kissed region of Bandol produces some of Provence's greatest red wines. Located just east of Marseilles and Cassis, the appellations regulations stipulate that Bandol rouge must be made with a majority of the powerful Mourvedre grape and from vines a minimum of 8 years of age. In addition, all harvesting is done by hand, with red wines undergoing a minimum of 18 months in oak before release. Rich and deep, with excellent ageing potential and tremendous character, a well seasoned Bandol is the quintessential accompaniment to one Provence's most famous delicacies, a Gigot d'Agneau (garlic studded leg of lamb). 95 points and a Highly Recommended from the Wine Spectator

  7. Domaine Mas Amiel- Maury 2010

    An inky black wine made from 100% Grenache grapes. On the nose it is complex and sumptuous, offering aromas of sweet ripe black fruits, warming spices, tobacco, mocha and garden herbs. On the palate it is dense and concentrated with fruit and spice flavours dominating, and yet it’s perfectly balanced also, with soft tannins giving it structure.
