Wine Comments
'Latitude' is a 100% Côte des Blancs Chardonnay, predominantly grown, in vineyards on the southern side of the village of Vertus. These are vineyards on roughly the same "Latitude" hence the name of this cuvée.The Côte des Blancs lies south of Epernay and is the source for many top cuvées and vintage Champagnes for houses of all sizes. Wines from this region are generally praised for their delicacy, freshness, and elegance which are all the characteristics of this cuvée 'Latitude'. This is an alluring and feminine aromatic champagne with a polished palate. Immaculately crafted it offers cut-diamond grace and precision.

The Domaine
One of the true stars of the Champagne region, Larmandier-Bernier is a small, top class producer creating consistently excellent Champagne. The small house at the forefront of the movement towards 'Growers-Producers' in Champagne is directed by husband and wife team, Pierre and Sophie Larmandier, who took over the direction of the family estate in 1988. In 1992, they began to convert the vineyards over to organic and then to full-blown biodynamic viticulture in 1999. Larmandier-Bernier uses only indigenous yeasts, separate vinification for each cru, and little to no dosage for an unadulterated expression of terroir in their wines. The wines are vinified in a variety of stainless steel tanks; large, old, wood foudres; enamel-lined tanks; or smaller Burgundian barrels, depending on each cru and each vintage. Blending is generally done in the spring following harvest, and it is at this time that the Larmandiers decide whether or not their single- vineyard bottlings will be produced. A purist, Pierre Larmandier, like all quality-conscious winemakers around the world, believes in keeping the human input to a minimum and letting the terroir speak volumes. The results are astounding: intense, minerally and exquisite Champagnes.

Larmandier-Bernier is the 4th best Champagne grower in the Revue des Vins de France - November 2015

"Arguably one of the finest grower producers in Champagne, Pierre Larmandier makes top class wines, mainly pure Blanc de Blancs styles, and despite great critical acclaim he's self-effacingly modest about his success and his wines remain affordable." Drinks International (The most admired Champagne brands) - May 2015
