What a beautiful expressive white wine made by Rui Reguinga one of the most respected Portuguese winemakers and a perfectionist. Terrenus bianco is a blend of several local grape varieties including Arinto, Ferñao Pires, Bical, Roupeiro from 80 to 100 year old bush vines. The vineyard is located in the magical and unique area of Portalegre north-eastern Alentejo (close to the border with Spain) at 600m-800m above sea-level. The grapes are hand harvested. Terrenus is partially matured in new French oak barrels for six months with weekly bâtonnage. Pale straw colour. The nose is quite reminiscent of white flowers and delicate. The palate is extremely fresh and juicy with notes of ripe lemon peel. The granite soil adds minerality and complexity to this wine. Smooth, balanced, quite muscular with appetising freshness. Magnificent.

The Domaine
Rui Reguinga is one of the most respected Portuguese winemakers. From Ribatejo, Rui is known for his mastery and dedication to the terroir and believes that in the right terroir any grape variety can produce excellent wines. The son and grandson of winemakers, he grew up with the dream of making wine. He graduated in Agricultural Engineering from the Lisbon Institute of Agronomy, which he followed with a post-graduate degree in Wine Marketing from the Portuguese Catholic University, Porto Campus, and a specialization in ‘Dégustation des Vins’ from Bordeaux University. He did an apprenticeship in the Champagne region in 1990, and soon after began an intensive career as a consultant winemaker.
After 10 years excelling in his work for famous brands in the major wine regions of Portugal - Rui Reguinga now advises a number of leading wine properties, mostly in Portugal. He is also involved in making wine in Australia, New Zealand, California, Chile and Asia. But with ever increasing knowledge and very special dedication, he always comes back to his original terroirs and the production of his own wine.
