Fabulous and powerful wine made by wine writer Richard Mayson. He is a well known contributor with Decanter Magazine and wrote five books on Portuguese wines. This wine is from Alentejo at an altitude of 500m. Pedra Basta (meaning ‘enough stone’) is a blend of Trincadeira, Aragones, Alicante Bouschet and Cabernet Sauvignon planted 15 years ago. An inviting plum and fig nose this is a delicious, ripe full-flavoured wine. A rich full and round palate of great balance, displaying rich Alentejo berry fruit characters, with integrated oak tannins and a great length of finish. Aged 12 months in French oak.
Fresh minerality in this outstanding wine that was aged for fourteen months in French oak. Ripe, rich flavours, complexity with silky tannins, extreme finesse and a persistent length on the palate. A ‘grand vin’.
