  5. La Bastide du Claux - Barraban Blanc

    La Bastide du Claux 'Barraban' is made from a blend of 7 different white varietals. The average vine age is 30 years, but the Ugni Blanc is 70 years old. After fermentation the wine is aged on its lees for 9 months. Barraban is charming, well balanced with good poise and structure all the way to the finish.
    The myriad grape varieties really do add complexity and interest. This is a wine of substance and delicacy, with subtle perfume; a fine example of what the south of France can still do much better than anywhere else.

    What a beautiful expressive white wine made by Rui Reguinga. Pale straw colour. The nose is quite reminiscent of white flowers and delicate. The palate is extremely fresh and juicy with notes of ripe lemon peel. The granite soil adds minerality and complexity to this wine. Smooth, balanced, quite muscular with appetising freshness. Magnificent.

    From an uncertain origin, but nowadays considered an austrian speciality, this outstanding St. Laurent wine impresses with a bouquet reminiscent of forest fruits, sour cherries and marzipan. This wine was aged in big oak barrels and matches excellently to all kinds of roast, dark meat and wild poultry.

  10. Domaine des Enfants, Le Jouet Rouge

    Dark ruby colour. The nose shows a lot of freshness with hints of red fruit, blackcurrant, and some smoky minerality (regardless of the fact that it was never in barrel). On the palate it is dense, medium tannins, good grip, but not overwhelming. A Nicely balanced, easy drinking wine full of fruit and freshness.
