  1. Marchesi Antinori - Solaia

Black pepper, coffee, chocolate, vanilla, plums and bottled fruit aromas follow each other continually in Solaia 2003. The wine is strikingly elegant with nicely blended tannins supporting the sensation of sweetness and weight. The tasting does not reveal harshness, and the balance shows distinctive sweetness from the riper grapes. Hints of liquorice and coffee return in the impressively long finish.

  2. Marchesi Antinori - Solaia

Intense ruby red colour and immediate classic, fruity aromas that are in perfect harmony with the vanilla and chocolate notes from the oak. Solaia 2006 is powerful on the palate, with a tannic texture, yet remaining smooth, with a very long finish, after time in the glass. Intense aftertaste of ripe blackberry and cherry fruit and a seemingly endless finish.

  3. Le Petit Mouton de Mouton Rothschild

The 1996 Le Petit Mouton was made in limited quantities (30,000 bottles). It is a ripe, seductive, low acid, plump effort. The wine is a blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc. This fleshy second wine offers notes of mocha, spice box, cassis, and oak. It will drink well for 10-15 years.

  4. Château Léoville Barton

In most tastings of the 1989 and 1990 vintages I have had a strong preference for the 1990, but in this tasting the 1989 provided the most charming drinking with its soft, voluptuous texture, big, spicy, cedary nose, sweet, expansive fruit, medium body, and excellent richness and purity. The wine reveals no amber at the edge, but it tastes surprisingly evolved and already delicious. I would not hesitate to drink it over the next 12-15+ years.

  5. Château Léoville Barton

The 1985 is a gorgeously open-knit Barton with a sweet nose of lead pencil, sweet black cherries and currants, and a hint of underbrush and new oak. Medium-to-full-bodied with expansiveness, supple tannins, and outstanding concentration, this is a beautifully made wine that still tastes like it is an adolescent and may even have an ever greater upside as it continues to age. The low acidity and sweet tannins, however, suggest it has entered its plateau of maturity. Anticipated maturity: now-2018.

  6. Château Palmer

This is a gloriously opulent, fleshy Palmer that will be attractive early and keep well. A expensive new cuverie was installed for the 1995 vintage has certainly paid dividends. Dark ruby/purple-coloured, with smoky, toasty new oak intertwined with gobs of jammy cherry fruit, and floral and chocolate nuances, this medium to full-bodied Palmer is an elegant wine and very impressive. Superb.

  7. Château Clos Fourtet

"Dark core but shaded at the rim. Attractively distinctive nose – something actually quite terroir-driven about this one at last!!! Glossy and very flattering and gorgeous with a good texture, and some really interesting flavour as opposed to just macerated black cherries. Refreshing. Limestone? Exciting." Jancis Robinson

  8. Château Cos d'Estournel, 2ème Grand Cru Classé, Saint-Estèphe

"Good ruby-red. Knockout nose combines currant, plum, minerals, licorice and graphite. Wonderfully sweet, rich and deep, but with near-perfect balancing acidity to frame the wine's lush fruit. This superb 2005 has it all. Finishes with noble, sweet tannins and palate-saturating persistence. On my most recent visit, Prats told me he considered 2005 to be superior to the 2003, and that the '05 may be "our best wine ever." Score: 96 Stephen Tanzer, International Wine Cellar.

  9. Overture

Full bodied but approachable in its youth, Overture shows generous dark fruit aromas and flavors with a soft, supple mid-palate. As a fine wine, Overture will develop beautifully over time.
Overture is a blend of all five Bordeaux varieties, and since our vineyard estates are planted primarily to Cabernet Sauvignon, this variety dominates the blend.
