  1. La Rioja Alta - Gran Reserva 904

Medium-depth, ruby-red with a brick rim, typical of the great Rioja classics. Very intense, fresh, vibrant aromas, with delicate notes of candied fruit against a balsamic, spicy, leathery background with hints of coffee and chocolate mints. Well-structured and round, with sweet tannins that have been polished by long ageing in barrels and in the bottle. Ample, delicate, long-lasting finish.
    The wine for great moments.

  2. La Rioja Alta - Gran Reserva 890

Open, medium-intensity cherry-red with an orange rim. The nose is very intense with a classic Rioja bouquet -- spicy, balsamic, cured leather, cocoa, tobacco and vanilla notes set against a background of candied fruit. Elegant in the mouth, with good structure and balance, silky, creamy tannins and a lively acidity on the finish. Big, complex aftertaste which will grow as the wine ages in the bottle . This great classic Rioja is suitable with main courses without heavy sauces, meat stews and desserts with chocolate.

  3. Vega Sicilia Alión

Blackish crimson with an inky core. The fruit smells riper than the Pintia, more fruit cake but still dark and savoury at the same time. Complex aroma: baking spice and a touch earthy. Still really scented, opening to a light floral note, too. Firm, velvety texture but tastes cooler and less thick on the palate than the Pintia. Even with this ripeness there is a fine complexity on the nose. Sweet black fruit and a light spice on the finish.

  4. Bodegas Lan Culmen Reserva

Intense purple colour with hints of plums, cherries and wildberries. Spicy, roasted and mint aromas as well as mineral notes. So complex. Culmen is only produced from harvests of outstanding quality.

  5. Dominio de Pingus - Flor de Pingus 2011

The 2011 Flor de Pingus demonstrates wonderful purity on the nose, perhaps more feminine and wily than the 2010 with luscious raspberry, blackberry and forest floor notes. The palate is full-bodied with filigree tannins and a little more volume than the 2010. It seems generous and very supple at this early juncture with a caressing, peppery finish that is extremely well focused. There 2011 has awesome potential and I cannot wait to taste this after two or three years in bottle.

  6. Vega Sicilia "Valbuena 5"

The Valbuena red has aged for less time than the Vega Sicilia Único. It is a wine that comes from the younger vines and, it is mostly made with the varieties of Tempranillo and more Merlot than Cabernet Sauvignon. It has the garnet cherry red colour of its older brother, with orangey undertones, the ethereal expression of its alcohol content and the accent of an excellent oxidative evolution, which is the fruit of oak that has been well tanned, which is a characteristic of the company's red wines. Its personality is reminiscent of the varieties used, with a hint of ripe red fruit. In the mouth, it has less structure than the Vega Sicilia Único, but holds the complexity of the wine-fruit association.

  7. Vega Sicilia "Valbuena 5"

Deep ruby. Complex, heady bouquet of kirsch, candied plum, cured tobacco, licorice, dried rose and cedar. Pungent herbal notes build with aeration and repeat on the palate, adding complexity to the deep, ripe cherry and dark berry liqueur flavors. Remarkably elegant wine with precise cherry/berry flavors and a slow-mounting mocha quality on the long, sappy finish. There's a very impressive interplay of fruit and tannins here.
