  1. Château Ducru Beaucaillou

"Loads of crushed berries on the nose, with hints of flowers and minerals. Very aromatic. Full-bodied, with fine tannins and a long, cappuccino and berry aftertaste. Really refined." 92 points Wine Spectator

  2. Château Coutet

Light golden colour. Delicate nose. Soft and gentle, ripe and fruity on the palate. This is balanced, elegant and long. Still enjoyable. Fragrant and honeyed at the end. Glorious......

  3. Pavillon Rouge du Ch. Margaux

The emphasis here is very much on finesse, not power. There is a wealth of ripe, red fruit on the nose with a piercing degree of purity. On the palate the fruit is again wonderfully pure and beautifully layered, with lovely interplay between the different grape varieties and the oak.

  4. Le Petit Mouton de Mouton Rothschild

The 1996 Le Petit Mouton was made in limited quantities (30,000 bottles). It is a ripe, seductive, low acid, plump effort. The wine is a blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc. This fleshy second wine offers notes of mocha, spice box, cassis, and oak. It will drink well for 10-15 years.

  5. Château Guiraud - 1er Cru Classé Sauternes

A peaceful harvest in ideal conditions trie after trie. A lot of purity, a botrytis less active than in 1986.
Intense nose, fresh, full bodied. Aromas reminding over ripe grapes, vanilla, pineapple, coconut, mango, guava, spices, orange, honey, acacia. In mouth, it is very concentrated, well balanced, round, fleshy, fat.
The finish is long, long, long…ready to drink now but also with a good ageing potential.

  6. Château Palmer

This is a gloriously opulent, fleshy Palmer that will be attractive early and keep well. A expensive new cuverie was installed for the 1995 vintage has certainly paid dividends. Dark ruby/purple-coloured, with smoky, toasty new oak intertwined with gobs of jammy cherry fruit, and floral and chocolate nuances, this medium to full-bodied Palmer is an elegant wine and very impressive. Superb.

  7. Château Clos Fourtet

"Dark core but shaded at the rim. Attractively distinctive nose – something actually quite terroir-driven about this one at last!!! Glossy and very flattering and gorgeous with a good texture, and some really interesting flavour as opposed to just macerated black cherries. Refreshing. Limestone? Exciting." Jancis Robinson

  8. Château Cos d'Estournel, 2ème Grand Cru Classé, Saint-Estèphe

"Good ruby-red. Knockout nose combines currant, plum, minerals, licorice and graphite. Wonderfully sweet, rich and deep, but with near-perfect balancing acidity to frame the wine's lush fruit. This superb 2005 has it all. Finishes with noble, sweet tannins and palate-saturating persistence. On my most recent visit, Prats told me he considered 2005 to be superior to the 2003, and that the '05 may be "our best wine ever." Score: 96 Stephen Tanzer, International Wine Cellar.

  9. Château Cos d'Estournel, 2ème Grand Cru Classé, Saint-Estèphe

"A wine of extraordinary intensity and accessibility, the 1995 Cos d'Estournel is a sexier, more hedonistic offering than the muscular, backward 1996. Opulent, with forward aromatics (gobs of black fruits intermixed with toasty pain grillé scents and a boatload of spice), this terrific Cos possesses remarkable intensity, full-body, and layers of jammy fruit nicely framed by the wine's new oak. Because of low acidity and sweet tannins, the 1995 will be difficult to resist young, although it will age for 2-3 decades."Score: 95, Robert Parker, Wine Advocate
