Aldo Vaira describes his Barbera d’Alba as ‘A Barbera that behaves like a Barolo’. It comes predominantly from the oldest Barbera vines planted in 1949 by his great-grandfather, Carlo Vaira. The deeply rooted vines produce a wine brimming with energy, that is intense yet very elegant. The magnificent aromas of raspberry, redcurrant, and blackcurrant mingle with stone fruits and prune. The palate is dense and dynamic with enticing freshness and a long lingering finish.
Aldo Vaira and his family produce wines of extreme freshness and finesse. Their compellingly articulate wines are emblematic of the ‘New Barolo’. It is as if their own serenity can be perceived in the sculpture of their glowing wines.
