Domaine la Montagnette , 2012

Almost opaque with a purple hue, this is classic syrah from the Northern Rhone. Rich and spicy on the nose with an underlying savoury quality, the palate is rich and spicy too, with ripe approachable tannins. The finish is long, smooth and velvety.

Dark garnet colour with a ruby rim. Lovely nose of ripened fruits with plum and cherry, supported by mineral notes. Dense, powerful and juicy; with a long and elegant finish.

Chenin Blanc , 2012

The fruit was sourced from 35 specially selected grape growing families in the Robertson Valley. Vines are grown in deep cool alluvial soil that is rich in lime and receives an annual rainfall of only 280 mm per year. Fruit was harvested very early in the morning from the last week of February to the middle of March. Our Chenin Blanc vines are planted on the riverbanks with a row direction from northwest to southeast to utilize the prevailing sea breeze. The sea breeze cools down the fruit, extends the ripening period and builds up concentrated flavours in the grapes. The average annual rainfall is supplemented by controlled drip irrigation from the Breede River. An appealing light straw colour. Light with lovely ripe, attractive rounded fruit. Fresh floral nose and an exciting acid balance.

Chardonnay , 2012

The Loire Valley can produce some delicious Chardonnay. This one is made by the Couillaud family who pays careful attention to growing methods using only organic and mineral fertilisers. This 2012 expresses green apples and pears on the nose. It is light with racy green fruit and a crisp, dry finish with enticing minerality. In many respects it is similar to Chablis and it’s a steal a the price! A really stunning Chardonnay that will please a crowd. Excellent with seafood, shellfish, chicken and pork dishes.

Kippenkop

Pinotage , 2011

The fruit is sourced from 35 specially selected grape growing families in the Robertson Valley. The Pinotage vineyards are grown in the lime rich karoo soils with fairly high clay content. This soil enables growers to use regulated deficit irrigation to control vine vigour and berry size. Pinotage quality benefits a lot if quite severe water deficit are induced between berry set and veraison. After a strict vineyard selection the selected fruit was harvested from middle February to first week in March.
Delicious flavours of ripe strawberries, bananas, juicy plums and rich red cherries, are well-integrated with notes of oak, followed by a wonderfully smooth finish.

Ruby red in colour, the 2009 Pèppoli is characterized by notes of cherry fruit well amalgamated with chocolate and vanilla from the oak aging. On the palate the wine shows much Sangiovese character with soft an silky tannins and a good persistence on the finish and aftertaste.
