The wine now shows a deep garnet colour fading to a tawny rim, a natural sign of long maturation in bottle. The nose is beautifully evolved, offering aromas of dried cherries, figs and raisins, layered with notes of walnut, leather, cedarwood and gentle spice. On the palate it is smooth and refined, with flavours of mature red fruits, dark chocolate, toasted nuts and hints of caramel and spice. The tannins have softened into a silky texture while the wine retains enough freshness to carry the flavours through to a long and harmonious finish. Subtle notes of dried fruit and cocoa linger elegantly.
