Bordeaux

Several centuries of history have shaped this estate of Château Tournefeuille, but the story really started in 1850, when a gentleman by the name of Victor Tastet acquired the land and the surrounding vineyards and erected the archetype of a ‘Château Bordelais’, that still exists today. An adjacent cellar was also built, where robust wines were produced.

When the second world war broke out in 1939, the property was purchased by the Sautarel family and for almost six decades, Château Tournefeuille remained in the same family and underwent multiple transformations.

Today Emeric Petit is the current owner and winemaker of Château Tournefeuille, which his father - a keen wine enthusiast from Chartres - acquired in 1998.

Attractively located in the commune of Néac, in the appellation Lalande de Pomerol, the 18 hectares gathered around Château Tournefeuille are planted with a majority of Merlot and Cabernet Franc.

Château Tournefeuille is situated on the limit of Pomerol and offers splendid view of the Pétrus vineyards - the river Barbanne separates the two estates. The vineyard practices are very traditional, including ploughing and manual harvesting. The conversion to biodynamic farming started in 2018. The state-of-the-art cellar completed for the 2017 harvest has certainly helped to develop the quality of the already stylish and polished wines of Tournefeuille.
