750ml Bottle

The nose is quite charming, with a chalky mineral character draped over yellow plum and peach fruit. The palate lives up to expectations, with a medium-bodied substance, lightly chalky yellow stone fruit mirroring the aromatic profile, the fine mineral and acid veins, building in the middle of the palate. Fresh, pure, with some surging energy in the finish. Great length and persistence on the palate.

Producer's Profile

Patrick Baudouin

Domaine Patrick Baudouin

Patrick Baudouin is renowned as a trailblazer in the Anjou region. He firmly believes that wines need to express their terroirs. In his opinion, a lack of intervention can easily produce a ‘common wine’. He says: ‘A wine is a product wanted by man, a product of human growing and farming. It is up to us to accept this.’

Domaine Patrick Baudouin

Chaudefonds-sur-Layon is a bourgade in Anjou Noir named after the dark-coloured shales, sandstones and volcanic rocks of the very old Armorican base, on a ridge between the Loire and the Layon (a tributary of the Loire). It is situated south-west of the city of Angers, in the heart of the Anjou AOC.
