  1. Domaine Florian Roblin - Sauvignon Blanc "Champ Gibault"

Meticulously made classic Loire Sauvignon by Florian Roblin, a young dedicated winemaker. This wine can be described as the 'insider's alternative' to Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé. Perhaps more reliably, this splendid Loire white offers classic Sauvignon character. Grapefruit and discreet freshly cut grass aromas abound with a lovely smoky background often referred to as 'gun flint'. Also a slight touch of truffle on the nose. There's good ripeness here so the wine is sure to be an all round pleaser. This pristine, fresh and elegant white really stands up well alongside more expensive Sancerres and makes a terrific partner to shellfish and sea food as well as chicken. A smart buy.

  4. Petite Burja Malvasia 2012

Not for the faint of heart wine drinker but rather more suitable for the I'm-not-afraid-of-deeply-coloured-yellow-wines type. An idiosyncratic dry white blend from the Burja winery. Winemaker Primož Lavrenčič, apprenticed at the lovely Burgundian Leroy estate and has taken this experience back to Slovenia where he focuses on native white grapes of the region. Dry, earthy, with yellow plums, dried sage, bay leaves and endless adjectives that will elicit a reaction out of anybody with a palate.

  5. Vieillefont Blanc

Vieillefont 2009 is quite a rich wine made from 60% Sémillon, 25% Sauvignon and 15% Muscadelle. The certified organic vines are 50 year old and more. A white that is deep, quite intriguing with a different style. Aromas of citrus and white peaches. Extremely good structure and broad on the palate and a long lingering finish. Would be ideal with a creamy chicken casserole, a roast belly of pork or a smoked mackerel quiche.

  6. Axel Pauly `Generations` Riesling Feinherb

The Einzigacker 2010 is bright yellow in colour with elegant aromas of butterscotch, pear and citrus fruit. The palate is full, with complex flavour and intense fruit balanced by lively acidity. The finish is fine-textured, rich and refreshing at the same time. It finishes dry.A bright clear yellow in the glass with green reflexes. The nose shows notes of fresh hay and ripe yellow fruit. On the palate there are hints of tangy fresh fruits with a mineral edge. The sweetness of the style is well-balanced by the acidity running through the core of this elegant wine.

  10. Pura Vida

Pura Vida is a white wine precisely chiselled like a diamond by Joan Soler, a very well known young winemaker from Catalonia. An interesting blend of Chardonnay and Macabeu with very inviting nose displaying white fruits aromas including apple followed by citric notes (lemon and grapefruit) and even touches of lavender. The palate is superbly balanced with a grassy structure and good weight. It is fresh, lively with a dominance of white and citric fruits and a long smooth finish with reminiscences of Mediterranean herbs.
