  1. Château Mouton Rothschild - 2004

"Beautiful aromas of crushed berries and chocolate, with hints of Indian spices. Full-bodied, with silky, velvety tannins and a long, caressing finish. A lovely wine for the vintage. This is the first wine from the new winemaking team at Mouton and is showing really well. Best after 2011." 93 Points Wine Spectator

  2. Giuseppe Quintarelli - Amarone della Valpolicella

The 2003 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico is a wine that aptly honours the legacy of its maker. The vintage was super hot, but careful cluster selection before appassimento means you never feel that extra warmth. In fact, this wine is exceptionally balanced and polished. It lasts many long minutes thanks to enduring notes of polished stone, candied berry, balsam spice and medicinal herb. They enlighten the palate like the golden streak of a comet on a midnight sky. Drink 2014-2028.

  3. Moët & Chandon - Dom Pérignon Rose

Coppery with hints of salmon and bronze, then a refined nose of nectarine, wild peach and iodine; a wonderful ambassador for this great long-lived vintage. Ripeness and minerality are present with plenty of power and a delightful elegant finish, both underscored by notes of vanilla and spice.

  4. Marchesi Antinori - Solaia

Intensely fruity and complex with a good structure, well-balanced, with soft tannins and a lingering finish. Displays unmistakable varietal flavour while retaining strong regional character.

  5. Château Lynch Bages

The deep ruby colour was assisted by a beautiful nose of cassis, mint, tobacco, and chocolate. Big, fat, concentrated and well balanced. Tannins are firm, but they have integrated well into the wine. Very broad shouldered. Still young, at 24 years of age. The long, lusty, fruit filled finish had a lot of persistence and was a pleasure to taste. Well stored bottles have at least another 20 or more years of evolution in their future.

  6. Château Latour

Highly coloured wine with a very spicy bouquet. On the palate, it is rich with "roasted" flavours. Bouquet of cigar, coffee, wax and spices. Very round and smooth in the mouth, elegantly balanced. While not massive, this wine is genuinely worthy of interest and pleasant to drink.

  7. Château Mouton Rothschild 1990

Luscious black currant flavoured with tobacco, herb, forest floor and spicy cassis notes. Powerful ripe tannins and an extremely long finish are all hallmarks of this wine.

  8. Château Palmer

One of the stars of the vintage, this has everything going for it. The delicate, floral nose complicated by truffle, floral, blackberry, forest floor and spice notes.
Sensuous, harmonious and polished, this wonderful vintage of Palmer is showing beautifully today but will continue improving for at least another 2 decades.
This Palmer may well turn out to be a modern-day clone of the glorious 1953. Seán Gilley

  9. Barbeito 1966

Tremendous nose of caramel, toffee and brown sugar that enveloped the table and was obvious two feet away. Clear brown colour. Smooth palate, medium-full body with a marked tartness like a granny smith apple. Very smooth and a long finish. Amazing stuff.
